How do you describe what you do for work?

I work with business owners, helping them to understand social media so they can elevate their online presence. I help people to develop and implement bespoke strategies rather than believing there is a one-size-fits-all approach. We explore what they like about social media and combine it with what inspires them about their business and the purpose of the work they do. I call it soulful social media coaching because it reconnects people to the passion and purpose behind the business.

What's your favourite thing about working freelance?

Where should I start?! I love it all! I love being able to manage my own time. I’m really driven and motivated, so I love being able to set my own goals and work towards them without having my progress limited by someone else. Mainly, I just love the freedom. Freedom to rest, freedom to thrive, freedom to do what you love.

Where do you usually work from?

I’m working from my home office. I did before lockdown and I will continue to do so for the foreseeable. I like being at home with my dog and not having a commute. I would love to travel and work in the future when we can move freely again. That’s the dream!

What does a normal working day look like for you?

I wake up and take my dog for a walk in the woods.  Then I have a large coffee while I do some journaling and pull some tarot or oracle cards. I use them for guidance to provide an insight into my subconscious and prepare me mentally for the day ahead. I then have my one-to-one sessions and prepare for my future sessions. I usually try to finish around half four and limit screen time in the evening, although I often find myself playing around on Canva or Procreate until late!

What one tip would you give other freelancers about running a freelance business?

Don’t overpromise, especially when it comes to deadlines! It’s so much better to be able to give something the time it deserves and present it properly rather than trying to impress by doing things quickly. If you have to push the deadline back, you end up looking unreliable. Don’t agree to things in the moment. If you’re not sure how long something’s going to take, go away and have a think about it.
